Workshop Descriptions:
Fascia Flossing
Join Misha for a gentle, yet delightfully yummy, 30 minute fascia flossing experience to warm up and relax the body. In preparation for our day of dancing, Misha will take you through a classic set to help unlock tight hips, release stress in the shoulders, ease pelvic tension, and stretch the body. We will work with several large muscle groups that are notoriously “sticky” for dancers, with the goal of loving up on those notoriously challenging spots to promote more freedom and fluidity in our dance. Fascia flossing is an amazing way to change the tissue in the body, protecting and preparing the muscles for a delicious day of dance! Misha is certified in Level 2 Fascia Flossing with Bonnie Crotzer of The Floss.
Siren’s Song: Dancing with the Energy of the Water Spirits
Join Global Caravan Master Teacher Misha for a magical morning exploring movements and combinations inspired by the world’s waters—and the mysterious beings that dwell within them. Shape-shift into the essence of a Siren and discover how to cast your own spell through presence, grace, and power as you dance. These captivating feminine figures remind us of the strength that comes from moving with intention and authenticity. In this enchanting workshop, you’ll learn flowing, elemental movement patterns, mesmerizing combinations, and dynamic group formations designed to embody that same fluid confidence and magnetic energy.
AMA: Lunch with Misha
For our in-house lunch break, we invite you to bring a packed lunch and your questions about “tribal” dance to Misha. A veteran of the scene for over 25 years, Misha has seen the growth of this art form from its early roots, through its massive heyday...cycles of birth and die off and renewal too. She’s happy to share history, glimpses of the art and how it’s evolve/d/ing, and answer whatever questions you might have. You can also hit her up for questions about costuming, one of her favorite topics, or charting pathways in your dance as she loves to help dancers evolve and grow in their art.
Veiled Mystery: Group Improv with Veil, Re-Imagined!
For our afternoon offering, we will take a journey down the silk road for a re-
imagined take on a classical MENAHT dance prop: the veil! While you might be familiar with more classical expressions of dancing with veil, the group improv take on it is an entirely different energy, archetype, and vibe. We will play with dancing with the veil in three expressions: as a beautiful background and frame for your movement when worn in a headdress, dancing with it while still part of your adornment, and of course with the veil out swirling and flowing. Each of these aspects of Veiled Mystery provides for a unique opportunity for connection and shape creation, building mystery and unique flair
in your dance. Please bring a 3 yard veil to class, a scarf you can tie around your head to make a head wrap and if needed clips/flowers for your hair.
About the Workshops & Teaching Style
While Misha's main focus is in her work as a Global Caravan Master Teacher, her
first joy of MENAHT dance was Turkish and Egyptian styles. She weaves in a
deep understanding and years of training in source cultures and dance into her
offerings, making her workshops accessible to dancers of any style. Her
workshops are described as "lively, fun, and really detailed," and she is sought
after across the world as a dynamic instructor. Misha's teaching style includes
clear breakdowns and descriptions, as well as drills and practical applications so
that all students leave with material they can immediately apply to their
dance. Misha holds an MS in Environmental Education and has over 35 years of
teaching experience, including 20+ years of teaching bellydance all over the
world.
Each of these workshops will include Misha’s signature and beautiful full color
PDF notebooks after the course. Inside they are packed with videos and notes of
the covered movements. Yours to keep, and review, any time you’d like to refresh
and practice the material.
